How to choose a yacht for charter

Sail, motor or catamaran? Choosing the boat to suit the number of people, the sailing area, your experience and your budget.

A sailing yacht heeling in the wind

Choosing a yacht starts with the crew. Count the people and the real number of berths — you sleep comfortably in as many cabins as there are couples, not in every corner of the saloon.

A sailing yacht works best when you care about classic sailing and a lower price. A catamaran means more space, stability and shallow draught — ideal for family trips, but more expensive to charter and to berth. A motor yacht is the choice for pace and comfort over shorter distances.

Match the size of the boat to your experience. For a first charter without a skipper it is worth starting with 37–41 feet in a calm area.
