How to sell a yacht well
To sell a yacht well, first put the facts about the boat, its condition and its documents in order, and only then set the price and write the listing. An honest description and photos help the buyer decide without hiding the things that still need clarifying.
The shortest answer: do not start with the price or a photo session. First put the data in order, show the condition of the boat honestly and decide which minor faults are worth describing and which are worth fixing before you publish the listing.
Checklist before you list the boat
- Gather the boat's documents, the equipment list and the history of known repairs.
- Check that the equipment description matches what is actually on board.
- Clean and tidy the yacht, then photograph the whole boat, the interior and the places that need explaining.
- Describe the condition, the limitations and the most recent work without replacing facts with general slogans.
What most often undermines the credibility of a listing
- a price detached from the condition, the equipment and comparable offers,
- photos that leave out the flaws, or out-of-date pictures,
- missing documentation, or claims of repairs that cannot be described,
- mixing up equipment that stays with the yacht and equipment excluded from the sale.
How to decide on preparing the boat
A repair makes sense if it removes a specific fault, makes a safe inspection easier or lets you describe the condition clearly. Masking problems with cosmetics is not worth it: better to show them in a photo and point them out in the listing. If you are unsure about the technical condition, separate what needs an assessment from what is purely cosmetic.

Next step: compare the documents, the equipment and the photos with the actual condition of the boat before you publish the listing.
